The following chart lays out the available ad positions and sizes through out the app.

The Size column will indicate what size creative you should prepare and use when uploading to our advertising system.  In some cases, this will be twice the display size

App Open - 640x770 (Image Only)
Front Page Banner 640x100 (Image and JS Tag)

Front Page Inline 600x500 (Image Only)

Article Stream Inline - 640x360 (Image Only)

The following screenshots will show the different positions and how they appear in app:

Mobile Banner
Size: 640x100
The mobile banner placement is anchored to the bottom of the screen.

This banner position support static images as JPG, PNG, animated GIF or Javascript Tags.  It is present on every article and category page.

Mobile App Open
Size: 640x770
The mobile app open is our only "blocking" ad unit, meaning that it blocks further access to the app until there is an interaction.  In this case the user can hit the buttons to learn more or close the ad or they can swipe the ad away to move forward.  The ad obscures the front page of the app but only shows once per active session of the app.

This ad position supports only static images based on how integrated into the app experience it is.

Article Stream Inline (iPad and Mobile Phone)
Size: 640x360
The article stream inline position shows on article lists between items in the article feed.  This slow intermixes with article content published within a feed.

The Inline 1 a. position above is the ad's image creative.  It supports only static images.

(Please note that this is compatible with the 600x500 iPad Medium Rectangle creative size which was replaced in 2017.  You can use the same creatives and will get much higher click through rate using this space.)

Mobile Front Page Inline
Size: 600x500
The front page inline ad unit appears within the "tiles" area of the front page.  It is shown in a similar format as the tile as a mechanism to integrate it into the user experience of the front page.

When the front page inline ad is shown the front page banner is "dodged" off the screen so that only one ad is visible at a time.  This can give a very deliberate take over feel when the ads are related.

Mobile Front page banner
Size: 640x100
The "front page banner" is a special version of our generic banner outlined above that is available only on the front page of the app.  It operates the same as the banner positions generally, but ads targeted at this space are only displayed on the front page of the app.

One special feature is that if you are running a front page inline ad, this banner spot will be dodged or hidden when the mobile inline is on screen.

iPad Leaderboard
Size: 720x90
The larger banner size will take up the center of the screen when the iPad is in landscape and the entire bottom of the screen when the iPad is in portrait.  It rotates on a set interval.

iPad App Open
Size: 1080x1040
The iPad app open is our only "blocking" ad unit on iPad, meaning that it blocks further access to the app until there is an interaction.  In this case the user can hit the buttons to learn more or close the ad or they can swipe the ad away to move forward.  The ad obscures the front page of the app but only shows once per active session of the app.

iPad Front Page Inline
Size: 600x500
The front page inline is placed among the tiles on the front page of the app.

You can tell it apart from the content by the clear "Advertisement" label it has.
